Well I'm not from Texas but welcome to the OLF. There are several luthiers here about from your state. Hopefully one of them will be near. Texas ain't that big is it? John How38510.5606597222

Welcome aboard "Jerrd" Im guessing Jerry I use to live in FW but have moved back to my home town out here in the desert of West Texas ie. Odessa. But there are several luthiers in the DFW area and I too would recamend LINT as a contact point

Hey John, maybe we could get together and motor on down there together sometime. I have a friend who is building now that would probably like to go as well.

Hey, Jerr, I'm another "wanna-be" from the DFW area. About 20 minutes west of FW. Recently started destroying my first set of wood (trashed the sides, top & back are joined, thicknessed and inlayed, neck stock is glued up). I'm still waiting to find a LINT meeting on a day when I'm actually off!

Wes

Howdy, jerrd, Shane and Wes.
You guys are in luck, in that a number of talented and creative builders live and work in the DFW area. Check out the LINT site as was suggested above, and for sure come to a LINT meeting. I'm always inspired after attending one. And, there is one scheduled for this month. Not sure when, as we just got back in from my nephew's wedding, and have been out of touch.

Steve

hey thanks guys!
wes & shane i just noticed on the LINT site there is meeting scheduled this month in Grand Prairie. ill list info below. i appreciate the replies and hope we can trade some notes. I have two projects i am getting ready for 1-repairing and refinish an old archtop guitar i bought for 23 dollars at a pawnshop and 2- build an acoustic guitar. i work everyday so i am putting together a little shop in my garage and ordering
a couple of things i need to get going, problem is everytime i turn around i read something mentioning another tool etc. i may need. my plan is to go ahead and start with low grade tops etc. and kind of find out as i go along what is actually needed... i think this is often referred to as "learning the hard way" :) but i am
excited about starting and want the experience. i know ill end up with a few piles of kindling at first but im not getting any younger and need to be on my way. :)
here is the info for meeting, i hope to attend. my email address is drama_sound@yahoo.com in case you want to email me offline.
thanks,
Jerry
